NAFTA's Effect On Mexico
As many annalists have said, Mexico has been given "trade without development". Mexico's exports have drastically increase since the creation of NAFTA. Many of Canada's and United States' major companies have moved to Mexico for lower wages, and this has had its benefits because the products that had final assembly have gone towards their GDP, thus Mexico becoming a more wealthy country. Because of international business in Mexico, wages for Mexican workers have decreased greatly. Living conditions have suffered as a result, and the factory workers struggle to provide for their families. Entire cities have been devoted to the United States manufacturing in northern Mexico, and the United States plans to continually increase the number of plants in Mexico.
Consensus: Mexico has became a more wealthy country, but they have not individual development but rather international manufacturing development.
