NAFTA's Effect On USA
NAFTA has had its benefits on the United States as well as its negative impacts. When initial signed, President Bill Clinton predicted that it would create over 300,000 american jobs. In reality, it did create the amount of jobs as stated but the trade agreement also caused a loss in jobs across America. The United States have vastly increased their import count from Mexico and Canada which has provided great resources and products for the United States.
Negative impacts of NAFTA include a constant decline in employment in Manufacturing because of the United States trade deficit continually increasing. In similar terms, the United States have not been exporting as many goods as they have been importing thus creating a loss in manufacturing jobs.
Overall Consensus: The United States have increased trading relationships with Canada and Mexico, but it has resulted in a vast number of lost American jobs.
